A study conducted to identify opportunities to support smallholder groups access commercial markets and to support SME agribusinesses to prepare for and access finance.

Aquaculture and poultry were selected as value chains that offer the most potential to increase economic opportunities for smallholder farmers in Malawi. They both have limited direct exposure to Malawi's climatic risks (although they depend upon food crop inputs). They are therefore positioned to attract commercial investment in well-structured businesses serving the local and regional markets.
