The World Bank’s Enabling the Business of Agriculture (EBA) diagnostic tool has produced data that can be used to measure/assess, in 101 countries, whether government-designed regulations and processes facilitate or hinder agricultural activities.

This webinar will explore the EBA data and how it can be used in programmes and policy work to promote stronger, safer and more resilient agricultural markets.

The EBA seeks to promote regulations that are not too burdensome on actors in the value chain. For example, one of its eight indicator areas is agricultural trade. The tool measures laws and regulations that help value chain actors trade their agricultural products in markets. It does this by benchmarking the total time and cost of obtaining mandatory agriculture-specific documents. This type of data can be used to assess the legal and administrative barriers that hinder streamlined market processes.

The focus of the webinar will be to:

• Introduce EBA, its thematic coverage and key findings of the EBA 2019 report
• Show the BEAM community how to access the data and use it in their work
• Get feedback on the usability of the data
• Involve the BEAM community in EBA country-level dialogue with government representatives and policy makers
