The Resilience and Adaptive Management Specialist is a critical position under the Implementer Led Design, Evidence, Analysis, and Learning (IDEAL) program--a $30 million, 5-year program designed to provide strategic capacity strengthening to implementing partners of USAID’s Office of Food for Peace (FFP), and other food security stakeholders.
Mercy Corps’ resilience approach helps communities identify and address underlying causes of vulnerability, identify ecological, social and economic shocks and stresses that stall or reverse gains in food security, and strengthen resilience capacities to achieve positive, inclusive change. Central to impactful resilient food security programming is adaptive management, which empowers, encourages and enables teams to acknowledge unpredictability and adapt so they can capitalize on opportunities and respond to changes in context and need. A culture of adaptive management and learning rewards experimentation, employs robust performance monitoring systems, applies evidence to continually improve implementation, and redesigns interventions that fail to produce expected results.
The Resilience and Adaptive Management Specialist will manage activities, such as strategy development, capacity strengthening, knowledge sharing, research, and resource development to support the use of adaptive management principles and a resilience approach to achieving food security outcomes in IDEAL.
