The horticulture sector, despite having great potential for smallholder farmer income growth and poverty reduction, is characterised as a fragmented value chain with many smallholder farmers having limited scale and only able to supply informal markets.

The program aims to commercialise and formalise the fruits and vegetable sub-sector by supporting and strengthening businesses in input supply, aggregation, value addition and export capacity to increase market access and participation of MSMEs.

Additional Information

This baseline seeks to gain a deeper understanding of the fruits and vegetables sub-sector and the different constraints and growth opportunities faced by market players and smallholder farmers.
