Now, start your first discussion thread! You can do it here on this site or by emailing [discuss@mic.discourse.group](mailto:discuss@mic.discourse.group) If you post from this site, there are many ways to get creative. Embed images and videos by pasting links: https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/standard20/uploads/mic/original/1X/0e4a124b3da45ceb149dfde5ed9855a9e840941c.jpeg Also if you post from this site, you have 5 minutes after posting to make any small edits you want before the email version gets sent out. Links to some websites will preview in the post: https://www.alnap.org/help-library/systems-thinking-handbook-for-humanitarians Add a poll: Are the features here cool enough to tempt you away from your email? [poll type=multiple results=always min=1 max=1 chartType=bar] * Could be... * Not on your life [/poll] ...and probably many more features we've not discovered yet. This site works nicely on phones and can be installed as an app (from the browser, not an app store). For those that like that sort of thing. ![Untitled|463x500](upload://da1P5EfnplyUAj1N23TYDpJqr7W.jpeg) Have fun!

**Using this web portal** Discourse has a New User Guide https://meta.discourse.org/t/discourse-new-user-guide/96331 First, jump into your profile preferences and give yourself a nice (or fun) profile picture: Go to the circle in the top right corner and click through to Account → Preferences → Preferences → Account ![image|657x500](upload://h1D10qZb4mEnsXoL3pjJVo1p1Co.png) Next, get set up to work the way you want. If you choose, you can use ‘**mailing list mode**’ to receive all new posts and replies in your email and be able to reply to them from there (like the old dgroups). By default, new users should be in mailing list mode. To enable/disable mailing list mode, or to only get digest emails when you want them, edit your account preferences: Go to the circle in the top right corner and click through to Account → Preferences → Preferences → Emails. Don't forget to Save Changes ![image|364x500](upload://hipSIdRxX5tjS8XsjohAFj6Ncos.png) To make sure you receive emails from MiC, add [Hidden email] to your junk mail filter. If you need help navigating this site, go to the [Site Feedback](https://mic.discourse.group/c/site-feedback/2) category in the left navigation and ask for help there. Feel free to answer anyone else’s questions too

We are an online community of humanitarian practitioners with a diverse range of skills and experiences in market-based approaches to crises around the world. The MiC discussion forum promotes open sharing, learning, and experiences and does not promote any particular tool or approach over another. A few guidelines to keep in mind: THIS IS A SAFE SPACE: We want everyone to feel able to ask questions and share half-formed ideas. No rude responses, obviously. STAY ON-TOPIC: Keep it relevant and professional so that everyone, including non-native English speakers, can follow and contribute. Remember that if you hit ‘REPLY’ to an email coming from this group, your response will go to every member in the forum. To respond personally to the sender, use the Private Message function on the web interface (or, if you are sticking to email, forward your reply to their email address). The MiC discussion forum is facilitated by Roger Dean, Alexa Swift-Reeves and Sasha Meunch on behalf of the MiC Advisory Committee and the IRC. Please help us do this better - discussions about this site's functionality can happen in the [Site Feedback](https://mic.discourse.group/c/site-feedback/2) category on the left. Alternatively, anonymous feedback can be left at the http://bit.ly/3WU6CBP The BEAM Exchange is a platform for knowledge exchange and learning about the role of markets in poverty reduction. BEAM runs a [Conversations](https://beamexchange.org/conversations/) board on its website and some of our best discussions may be reposted publicly there
