The Opportunities for Youth Employment (OYE) identifies rural out-of-school youth and trains them in market-relevant skills in order to improve their employability.

Intervention description

OYE has been implemented in three countries in East Africa focusing on different sectors:

  • agriculture in Mozambique
  • renewable energy in Rwanda
  • agriculture and renewable energy in Tanzania

This report synthesises findings of the final evaluation of the programme to better understand the outcomes and longer-term impact.

Evidence methodology

The completion report relies on desk research of programme documents and field visits.

The evaluation team interviewed OYE teams’ members to understand better the reality of the programme and held meetings and interviews with a selected sample of beneficiaries and stakeholders.
