Focusing on Dadaab, Kenya, this study provides a market system analysis for interventions aimed at enabling the self-reliance of refugees and host communities, and thereby contributing to a broader local economic development (LED) agenda.
Two complementary pieces form the basis of this report:
- A socio-economic assessment and context analysis that seeks to lay out the challenges and opportunities that Dadaab offers
- A rapid value chain analysis that aims to identify sub-sectors and value chains that have the potential for inclusive growth
The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) developed the Approach to Inclusive Market Systems (AIMS) to facilitate the development of market-based interventions for the economic inclusion of refugees and other forcibly displaced.
