This impact evaluation is among the first to rigorously evaluate the effects of a resilience-focused project in the face of a severe shock. 

The results are encouraging, with compelling evidence that supports the efficacy of multi-year, flexibly funded, integrated approaches to building resilience to severe shocks. 

Specifically, households that had benefited from PRIME fared better than others in the face of drought. This report outlines how.

About PRIME
Pastoralist Areas Resilience Improvement and Market Expansion (PRIME) was a USAID-led Feed the Future programme in Ethiopia from 2012 - 2019. It included a markets based and adaptive management approach to help pastoralists strengthen systems to simultaneously address economic needs and climate adaptation to increase resilience capacities.
