MADE Nigeria promotes inclusive, pro-poor growth for farmers in rural agricultural markets in the Niger Delta.

This Phase 2 evaluation report includes an overview of the programme and impact, highlighting results achieved during the duration of programme implementation, as well as looking at the impact of the overall MADE programme since 2013.

This report documents impacts of MADE II between March 2018 and February 2020. It details achievements by outputs, outcomes and impacts as well as relevant market system changes. The report presents information on programme management, lessons learned, a value for money analysis as well as a sustainability and exit strategy.

Intervention description

MADE II has two components, the Market Development (MD) component and the Edo State Investment Portfolio (ESIP).

MADE has facilitated improvements in the poultry, aquaculture, palm oil, agricultural inputs and cassava sectors.

Evidence methodology

A combination of surveys, face-to-face interviews and case studies.

The programme generated baseline information for all actors that MADE worked with. Quarterly surveys captured behaviour change and semi-annual surveys captured increased productivity. The programme used a combination of before-after analysis and comparison group to establish the extent to which results achieved can be linked back to the interventions.

This programme's results measurement system passed an audit against the DCED standard.
