PEPZ aims to tackle low levels of productivity and to increase the competitiveness of the private sector by strengthening the capacity of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

It does this through activities that build the skills and capabilities of firms, help firms access finance for investment, and link small companies to big suppliers and multinationals.

Its original design had four components: SMEs accelerator, business linkages, BDS, and a nationwide entrepreneurship competition. It focuses on tourism, agriculture and mining.

Intervention description

This document reports progress achieved in the year April 2018-March 2019 on each one of the four components (outputs). It shares lessons learned from each component. It also describes the theory of change used by the programme and other key aspects, such as value for money.

Evidence methodology

The report does not explain the methodology.
