This paper discusses emergent lessons for flexible, adaptive programme implementation in a major health care project in Nigeria.

It aims to:

  • document the nature of the adaptive approach undertaken
  • draw some conclusions about the impact of that approach
  • present some guidance for individuals and groups that wish to operationalise adaptive programming in their own contexts
