This case study forms part of a series of analyses of RisiAlbania’s market systems interventions in Albania’s ICT, Tourism and Agricultural sectors.

This case study looks at the work that RisiAlbania is undertaking in partnership with national tour operators looking to develop ‘sustainable tourism’ off the beaten track that will generate employment for small local businesses.

The report highlights why such tourism can be ‘pro-youth’ in countries like Albania by avoiding the insecurity that seasonal tourism generates.

It looks at tourism's potential to create economic benefits and employment whilst also supporting environmental protection through eco-tourism and cultural preservation.
