The designing for shelter behaviour change (DSBC) framework is derived from the need to design market-based interventions that prioritise human needs and use behaviour change to achieve more sustainable impact at scale.

It was designed using secondary research and lessons from fieldwork in Mexico and India and provides practitioners with guidance on the application of human-centred design that aims to promote lasting behaviour change.

The steps and tools present various strategies that will help practitioners wherever they are in the design process in order to: better understand their end user (who), develop greater insight regarding a desired social and behaviour change (what), accurately diagnose existing behaviours (why) and brainstorm ideas on how to promote market-based interventions through leveraging appropriate opportunities (how).
