This brief highlights the Krishi Utsho approach - using social enterprises to sustainably solve the problem farmers have in rural Bangladesh.

Krishi Utsho is a social enterprise project under CARE Bangladesh. Initially it was an initiative to implement the role of access to quality and services as part of the Strengthening the Dairy Value Chain (SDVC) programme.

The network increased farmers' access to good quality dairy and agricultural inputs for higher yields and improved incomes.

Krishi Utsho demonstrates micro-franchises can complement traditional market-based approaches to alleviate poverty, In technical terms, Krishi Utsho could be referred to as an 'agro input micro franchise network'.
