A fine balance: evaluation, monitoring, independence and collaboration

More and more programmes have evaluations that run alongside programme implementation. How do we get the most out of this combination? How do market systems programmes balance the need for evaluations to remain independent while at the same time working alongside, and potentially with, the programme team during longitudinal evaluations? This session at the BEAM Conference 2016, attempted to provide some answers by bringing together evaluators with programmes that have been evaluated, with experts in monitoring and evaluation. They will discuss some of the most critical overlaps between monitoring and evaluation and offer some insights in how we can get most synergies out of the combination.
