This tool can help project staff support partners in developing or upgrade their supply chains and purchases from small-scale producers.
It includes question guides that the project staff can use to assist partners to identify and develop 'directed procurement models' (e.g. procurement hubs, collection points, contract farming) that are appropriate to their needs.
A brief summary of procurement models and the facilitation process for supporting their development is presented in Section 1.
Section 2 presents a procurement model costing spreadsheet and related question guides.
Section 3 presents facilitation tips and guidance on how to use the tool to prepare and facilitate strategic planning exercises with targeted firms.
The tool was developed for an agricultural MSD programme in Bangladesh but would be useful across a range of agricultural contexts.
