Ron Ashkin

Ron Ashkin is an international development economist, consultant and manager with an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced in emerging economies as a result of his leadership and technical advisory roles on broad-impact market systems development, SME and enterprise development, competitiveness, private sector strategy, and business environment improvement projects worldwide for funding agencies such as DFID, EU, SDC, USAID and the World Bank. He is an innovator of the M4P approach in non-agricultural sectors and instigated the integration of a ‘Do No Harm’ conflict-sensitive framework into economic competitiveness programmes for the first time. He is currently Strategy Advisor, Cardno Emerging Markets (East Africa) Ltd and Team Leader, Private Sector Innovation Programme for Health (PSP4H), Kenya.

Ron has a private sector background in exporting and international trade underlying his extensive development experience. Over the course of his career, Ron has worked in sixty countries and lived in ten.
