Ron Ashkin

Ron Ashkin is an international development economist, consultant and manager with an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced in emerging economies as a result of his leadership and technical advisory roles on broad-impact market systems development (MSD), SME and enterprise development, competitiveness, and private sector strategy projects worldwide for funding agencies such as EU, FCDO, SDC, USAID, and the World Bank. He is a pioneer of the MSD approach in non-agricultural sectors such as healthcare and instigated the integration of a ‘Do No Harm’ conflict-sensitive framework into economic competitiveness programmes for the first time. He is currently Technical Director on the SDC-funded Private Sector Partnerships in Health (PSPH) Somalia, implemented by DT Global. Ron has a private sector background in export development and international trade underlying his extensive development experience. Over the course of his career, Ron has worked in more than sixty countries and lived in thirteen.
