About a year ago, I posted asking if anyone was doing any markets research / analysis / assessments of health - related markets. My interest came primarily from antibiotics markets - but would now extend to other medicines, medical supplies as well as health services.
Health systems, despite what many working in NGO's and the public sector wish or hope for, are largely private and markets based in many contexts - from treating infectious diseases, such as Covid-19, to emergency treatments and preventative measures. Health systems are also understood to extend beyond 'human' health to animals, envirionmental health (One Health approach) Do we understand how these systems work? How they are affected in crises? What the impact of Covid-19 is? On how they interact with the public health systems and suppliers? Who are the key players and (how) can they be part of the solution to the huge health challenges facing both human and animal health!
I'd love to hear what's been done ... who's doing what ... and what approaches are being used and how. Do our existing analytical tools work? Can they be adapted? What studies are there already?
