The current South Caucasus Strategy 2017‐2020 focuses on improving value chains, supporting entrepreneurship and creating a business-enabling environment in order to further develop the agricultural sector.

The approach seeks a progressive transformation to a more formal agricultural sector that will have an impact on small‐scale farmers.

Intervention description

This report synthesises findings of research to explore the views and  perspectives of direct and indirect beneficiaries of SDC-funded projects. It will influence the pursuit of current agricultural activities in the future.

Evidence methodology

The study was done using a triangulated approach by applying a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods including large scale surveys. These included:

  • specific target regions (150 direct beneficiaries & 1800 indirect and non‐beneficiaries)
  • focus group discussions (18 FGDs)
  • in‐depth interviews (18 IDIs)
  • case studies (two)

The study covered four regions in Georgia and two regions in Armenia.
