This paper suggests useful principles for enterprise development organisations (EDOs) who are trying to take on a market development approach to enterprise development. The principles can be applied to economic development projects that target small, medium or large enterprises. They apply to programmes promoting agricultural, manufacturing, and services – and also have application in other sectors such as health, conservation, and education.
